Description | Republican Dave Graham said Tuesday he has "suspended" his gubernatorial campaign and will spend a few weeks evaluating whether to end his second run for the state's highest office.
Graham, 54 of Kenton, filed as a candidate and paid the $5,300 filing fee in March, shortly after retired Superior Court Judge Bill Lee said he would not run for the office. Last month, though, Lee was drafted and endorsed by the GOP, and Graham now believes he probably should end his bid.
"It was fun while it lasted," said Graham, who works as a tax auditor for the state. "Now that someone is running for governor, God bless it."
Graham said he would probably decide by mid-July whether to pull the plug on his campaign.
Reached in Tennessee, where he is visiting family, Lee said he was surprised to hear of Graham's decision.
"I'm not exactly sure what that means. I guess we'll see. But I'm sure he'll do what's best for himself and the party," Lee said.
