| Description | Actress Laura Dern will portray former Congresswoman and Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris in an upcoming HBO "docu-drama," several show business trade journals are reporting.
Dern will play the Republican from Longboat Key in "Recount," a story about the 2000 presidential election and the fight over Florida's electoral college votes. As Secretary of State, Harris oversaw a recount of the state's popular vote that declared George W. Bush the winner.
According to reports: Kevin Spacey will play Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore. Ed Begley Jr. will portray Gore lawyer David Boles. William Hurt will play former U.S. Secretary of State Warren Christopher. Dennis Leary will play Gore advisor Michael Whouley. Bob Balaban will play Bush lawyer Benjamin Ginsberg. No word yet as to whether someone will be cast as Bush.
Jay Roach of "Meet the Parents" fame will direct.
