DescriptionRENO, Nev. (AP) - Less than two weeks after losing the governor's race, Democrat Dina Titus says she's considering a 2008 run against Rep. Jon Porter, R-Nev.

"That (race) would come up in two years. But the campaigning would start in one year, so I am not ruling that out," Titus told the Reno Gazette-Journal.

Titus, the state Senate minority leader from Las Vegas, was a 48-44 percent loser to Republican Jim Gibbons on Nov. 7.

Porter was a 48-47 percent winner over Democrat Tessa Hafen for the 3rd Congressional District seat in southern Nevada, where Democrats hold a 1,500-voter registration edge.

State Senate Majority Leader Bill Raggio, R-Reno, said Titus could mount a serious challenge if she entered the race.

"Sen. Titus ran a credible campaign," Raggio said. "Obviously, I will be supporting a Republican for Congress. But will she be a viable candidate in the future? Certainly. She has higher name recognition now and has conducted herself well in this campaign."
