Description | RAPID CITY — With the Nov. 7 general election less than two months away, Republican U.S. House candidate Bruce Whalen is trying to raise money and the profile of his low-budget campaign against Democratic U.S. Rep. Stephanie Herseth.
Whalen had a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday at his West River campaign headquarters in Rapid City, using the occasion to criticize Herseth for dodging debates, taking contributions from pro-choice groups and flip-flopping on the elimination of the federal inheritance tax.
Whalen said Herseth has limited her joint appearances to a few scripted broadcast events, rather than defending her record in more rigorous one-on-one debates. |
