Description | Gov. Kathleen Blanco asked President Bush on Monday to declare Aug. 29 as a national day of prayer, and invited him to personally participate in some of the events being planned to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
"I hope you will select a convenient time and work closely with us to demonstrate clearly no one has been forgotten; all who help our recovery and rebuilding are appreciated; and that progress and measurable successes are evident where before there was only destruction," Blanco said in a letter sent to Bush.
