Description | U.S. Congressional hopeful Bill Scheurer of Lindenhurst was confident last week that he had secured more than the 13,950 signatures needed to appear alongside incumbent U.S. Rep. Melissa Bean, D-8th, and GOP nominee David McSweeney on the November ballot.
But it appears the aspiring Moderate Party candidate's petition drive has failed.
Claiming to be the victim of a scam that cheated him out of as many as 12,000 signatures, Scheurer apparently fell less than 1,000 signatures short of the minimum number needed by the filling deadline Monday.
Scheurer blames his difficulties on a person he met with in mid-May who claimed to be a consultant, Anthony R. Constantine of AR Consulting of Oak Lawn, who agreed to collect 8,000 to 12,000 signatures for $2 each. |
