Description | Reports of solid voter turnouts in areas where Democrat Tony Sanchez must rack up big margins is creating early optimism for the Democrat, but a spokesman for Republican Gov. Rick Perry said it's premature to detect any trend.
Voter turnout for the Nov. 5 election is off to a strong start in typical Democratic strongholds, including El Paso, South Texas, Laredo, Corpus Christi and Beaumont. Early-voting turnout numbers also appear promising for Republicans in some of their strong bases, including Collin, Tarrant and Williamson counties. But the first early-voting numbers in some other Republican areas, such as Denton and Fort Bend counties, appear sluggish. |
