Description | Now that Gov.-elect Jon Corzine has tapped Robert Menendez to fill his vacant seat in the U.S. Senate, candidates are emerging to fill the open seat in the 13th Congressional District.
Joseph Vas, the mayor of Perth Amboy, was scheduled to announce his candidacy Tuesday in four stops around the state.
Vas, 50, a Democrat, has been mayor of Perth Amboy since 1990 and a state assemblyman since 2003. He has raised nearly $300,000, said Barry Brendel, a campaign consultant. |
