Description | State Sen. Barbara Blackmon, who has made millions in law practice with her husband, stressed her "humble beginnings" Tuesday during her formal campaign announcement for lieutenant governor.
Blackmon, a Democrat from Canton, said she grew up in Jackson in hard times, in a large, close-knit family, and worked on her grandparents' Utica farm.
"Like many of you know, you haven't worked hard until you have fed cows, fed chickens and worked on a farm," she said at the Capitol, with dozens of cheering supporters standing behind her as she faced television cameras. |
