LITTLE ROCK - After undergoing a heart procedure Monday, former U.S. Sen. Dale Bumpers, D-Ark., was recovering rapidly at his Bethesda, Md., home, according to his assistant, Connie Edwards.
Bumpers, 79, went to the Washington Hospital Center emergency room with chest pains about 12:30 a.m. Monday. A blood vessel was cleared and three stents were inserted.
"He left the hospital the following day and is doing fine," Edwards said Wednesday. She said he may return to work by Friday. "He wanted to come back to the office today." |
