Description | Only four months after the last vote was counted and the last dollar spent, the 2nd Congressional District of eastern Connecticut once again is a national political battleground.
Democrat Joseph Courtney, the 2002 nominee, announced Wednesday that he has begun raising money for a rematch in 2006 against the three-term Republican incumbent, Rob Simmons.
With the election 18 months away, Courtney said he's already heard from ranking congressional Democrats supporting his bid to recapture what had been a Democratic seat in the 1980s and 1990s. |
