Description"WALL -- With six days left until the primary, Rich Pezzullo stood waving from the middle of the Collingwood traffic circle as motorists ducked and dodged merging traffic.

Standing next to Pezzullo was his campaign manager -- an old Army Reserve buddy down from Connecticut to orchestrate Pezzullo's seventh run at public office -- and a volunteer whom the 45-year-old candidate from Freehold Township met at his daughter's school.

She held the reason the three were there: a sign scrawled with the phrase, "Fix this deadly circle." Pezzullo hoped it translated into his belief that political cronyism needlessly stalls road projects such as the removal of the Route 33/34 circle for years as insiders take a chunk of the pie.

It was the conservative candidate's latest stop on a guerrilla-style campaign against his vastly better-funded opponent, incumbent John O. Bennett III, for the Republican nomination for the 12th District state Senate seat. The idea is to make a splash, have a few people see the stunt and sit back while a buzz percolates."
