Description | Four years ago, the most expensive political race in central San Joaquin Valley history was waged in the 20th Congressional District, with a total of $5.3 million spent by Republicans and Democrats.
In that race, incumbent Democrat Cal Dooley turned back Republican Rich Rodriguez, now a KSEE-TV anchorman, in a bruising, bitter contest.
Dooley and Rodriguez aren't part of this year's 20th race, but the district remains hot.
The Democrats and their candidate, Jim Costa, and the Republicans and theirs, Roy Ashburn, are on their way to spending more than $4 million combined for the seat. |
