Description | Keyes Funds Shock Critics
Blog Post
Have you read the latest news report from Andy Shaw on the ABC7 Chicago website? How about any of the over a dozen similar accounts breaking across the state? It seems that Illinoisans have been caught off guard with recent FEC filings that show that Keyes 2004 has successfully raised over $1 million in campaign contributions in only 7 weeks!
The news is sparking excitement from within the Keyes campaign family that includes Manager Bill Pascoe and Chief of Staff Mary Parker Lewis at the top, down to the devoted volunteers that show up each day to galvanize support wherever they can get it like — Keith Smith and Lawrence Joyce. They deserve to feel great since this is exactly what the harshest critics said would be almost impossible to achieve having entered the race so late it in the game with the reputation that Dr. Keyes had. Pascoe noted, "If we'd had a full quarter to raise money at this rate, we would have topped $3 million."
So what does Obama have left in the bank? All you have to do is go to the Federal Election Commission office and see the public records that Obama only has less than $2 million leftover! In other words, the two campaigns are almost at an equal footing when it comes to cash on hand — even after subtracting the debts the Obama camp claimed the Keyes camp had not subtracted from the accounting. |
