Description | September 16, 2004--Many commentators have speculated that certain days of the week provide better polling results for Republicans while other days are better for Democrats. Until now, there has never been enough data to provide a credible analysis of this theory.
Rasmussen Reports has asked voters every night this year about the Presidential race. We have reviewed data from the past 31 weeks and found only small differences in our Tracking Poll based upon the day of the week.
For both Bush and Kerry, the range from worst day of the week to the best was just half a percentage point. In fact, the worst day for each man resulted in an average vote total of 45.6%. The best day reached 46.1%.
The entire 31-week sample included 115,500 telephone interviews and found Kerry at 45.9% with Bush at 45.8%. Our Thursday results matched that level precisely. The other six days produced results for each candidate that never varied more than three-tenths of a point from their overall average. |
