Description | Rick Staly tried to hand a check for $1.1 million to Orange County School Board members Tuesday, but he said they can only cash it if he's elected sheriff.
At the School Board's budget hearing, Staly said the district shouldn't have to pay for the school-resource officers who patrol local campuses. To make his point, he presented the School Board with a mock check for the amount the district pays annually for school deputies. But board members wouldn't take it, saying they didn't want their budget hearing to become political. |
