Description | Three Democrats seek the opportunity to unseat Republican incumbent Mark Souder in the 3rd District U.S. Representative race. Steve Hope has run at least half a dozen times before, but said he could never attract enough money to win. He calls himself a "middle of the road radical." Mark Summers has never run for office, but felt compelled to challenge Souder. "I do not feel I have representation because Souder represents this area (and) I am a gay man," Summers said. "He does not believe the constitutional rights he enjoys are the same constitutional rights (I should) enjoy." Maria Parra, who serves on the Metropolitan Human Relations Commission, is making jobs and health care the focus of her campaign. |
