Description |
This riding has existed since the 1903 election. It has been NDP since 1990. It's in southwest Manitoba and has the Saskatchewan/Manitoba border as its western boundary. Lake Winnipeg forms the eastern boundary and Lake Winnipegosis runs through the riding. The riding includes the Town of Swan River in the southwest, as well as Birch River, Ethelbert, Minitonas, Camperville and Winnipegosis.
The population in 2001 was 18,920. The average family income was $41,478, with an unemployment rate of 10.9 per cent. The main industry was agriculture (23.8%).
