The Great Slave district reaches along the shore of Yellowknife Bay, taking in the middle- and higher-income residential neighbourhoods of School Draw Ave., as well as several apartment blocks. The territory's largest high school, Sir John Franklin, is in this district. Yellowknife, with a population of 18,700, is the Northwest Territories' capital and by far its largest community.
