Nordsachsen is one of ten districts (Landkreis) established after the administrative reform of the Federal State of Saxony effected on August 1, 2008. Nordsachsen was formed by merger of the districts of Torgau-Oschatz and Delitzsch. The major district town is Torgau, which is also the administrative seat of the district.
