Description |
57-seat regional parliament of the Azores, composed of the islands of Santa Maria, São Miguel, Terceira, Graciosa, São Jorge, Pico, Faial, Flores and Corvo. Members are elected every four years. Autonomy for the Azores was enshrined in Portugal's Constitution in 1974. The Legislative Assembly is based in Horta.
