The Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) is the all-embracing body of the land. All decisions are routed through its Central Committee by its Chairman, the Supreme Leader. The Party has broad-brush control over all aspects of the state.
The position of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea was created on October 12, 1966 at the 14th plenary meeting of the 4th WPK Central Committee.
The WPK held its 8th Congress from 6–12 January 2021 and elected the Party's General Secretary on January 10. 2021.
