Description |
100-member upper house of the newly constituted bicameral Transitional National Legislature of South Sudan, the other legislative body, the lower house, was renamed the Reconstituted Transitional National Legislative Assembly. The original Council of States constituted on August 5, 2011 and established with 50 members was dissolved and extinguished in May 2021 per agreement. The Transitional Council of States which replaced it was constituted on August 2, 2021. The first parliamentary elections for seats in the two new bodies will be held on December 22, 2024, announced on July 7, 2024 [Link]
