Description |
This is an urban riding in southern New Brunswick. Kennebecasis Bay forms most of the western boundary. Saint John, Rothesay and part of Quispamsis are included in the riding.
The 2001 census counted 83,463 residents, of whom about five per cent are francophones and four per cent immigrants.
The University of New Brunswick-Saint John, Saint John Airport and the Irving group of companies' corporate headquarters are in the riding. The Saint John port is one of the busiest in the country. The average family income is $57,140; unemployment stands at 9.6 per cent.
In the 2004 redistribution, about 14,000 residents were added from the former riding of Fundy-Royal to the east.
