Description |
This largely suburban riding is in Calgary's northwest end. It's bounded by 144th Avenue Northwest in the north, by Centre Street North, Harvest Hills Boulevard North and Beddington Trail Northwest in the east, by Berkshire Boulevard Northwest, 14th Street Northwest, John Laurie Boulevard Northwest and Shaganappi Trail Northwest in the south, and by Crowchild Trail Northwest, 112th Avenue Northwest and Rocky Ridge Road Northwest in the west. The 2001 census counted 100,026 residents. More than 27 per cent are immigrants, and more than 13 per cent list Chinese as their first language.
Industry in the riding is mainly small businesses. More than 21 per cent of people here hold a university degree, and incomes are high: $91,212 for the average family. Unemployment is five per cent.
In the 2004 redistribution, Calgary-Nose Hill lost about 30 per cent of its population, while gaining about 2,300 residents from Calgary Northeast.
