Info | E.T. Wilson, Republican, Kittitas and Douglas counties, Eleventh district, is a former newspaper man; was born at Madison, Wisconsin, on December 11, 1852; when thirteen years old he crossed the plains to Montana; with the exception of one year, he has resided in the territories since 1866; came to Washington in 1876, located in Columbia County; served in the Nez Perce Indian war of 1877 as a first lieutenant of Lewiston, Idaho, volunteers; began the publication of Pomeroy Republican, now the East Washingtonian, in 1881; sold out in 1882, and in February, 1883, purchased the Columbia, Dayton Chronicle; continued its publication for nearly four years; served as chief clerk of the legislative council in 1885-86; on September 1, 1887, removed to Ellensburgh and assumed charge of mercantile business at that place, continuing until the great fire of July 4, burned him out; was a member of the city council of Ellensburgh; is a holdover from the first senate; was chairman of the Republican State Central Committee in the campaign of 1890; was elected president pro tempore of the senate January, 1891, in place of Lieutenant Governor Laughton who was acting as governor.
