Info | Derek Deedman was a leading councillor from 1976 to 1990 on Liberal Democrat Adur District Council. He was the council's chairman from 1981 to 1983 and deputy leader 1986 to 1990. Elected to West Sussex County Council in 2001 (regaining the seat from the Tories by a 9% swing with a majority of 6 votes), Derek has chaired the Council's Regulation, Audit and Accounts Committee (by convention chaired by an opposition member) since 2001.
He was the Liberal Democrat candidate for Gravesend in 1992, and in this constituency in 2001.
Moving to Steyning in 1993, Derek has led the political campaigning in the area since 1998.
Retiring early in 1997 as a senior finance manager with East Sussex County Council, Derek lives in Steyning with his wife Ros, their two young sons and his step-daughter.
