Info | Robert was born in 1968, is married to Sian and is the proud father of Millicent and George, who are twins. He was educated at Old Road Primary School and St. Michael's School, Llanelli, before going to Hatfield College, Durham, to read law. Whilst at University, Robert served as JCR Secretary and was President of the Union.
Since 1992, Robert has been practising as a barrister based in South Wales. He specialises in Criminal Law, both prosecuting and defending in Crown Courts across England and Wales. He has a special interest in the confiscation of proceeds of crime.
Robert's interests include music, watching rugby, cricket and football, political history and wine. Nowadays, he spends much of his time running about with his young family.
Robert's Experience
Since he joined the Conservatives in 1985, Robert has campaigned hard for the type of Britain he wants to live in. He has a wide range of political experience, from working in the House of Commons for Lord Hunt of Wirral whilst he was Welsh Secretary to serving as a County Councillor having been the first Conservative in living memory to win a seat in Llanelli.
He has served as School Governor of his old primary school and of a local comprehensive. Robert has stood for election to the European Parliament, and in 1995 contested the Islwyn by-election. In 1997, he was candidate for Preseli Pembrokeshire. He has advised the Party upon the drafting of amendments to criminal justice legislation and has written several articles for the "Reformer" magazine.
Robert believes that under Labour, the influence of Parliament has declined. He wants to help restore its true role at the heart of our nation's life.
Conservatives - Working for South Swindon
Having won control of Swindon Council in the June 2004 elections, Swindon Conservatives are working hard to repair the damage wrought by decades of Labour mismanagement. In the last three years alone, council tax rose by a shocking 42%. We have pledged to fight such tax hikes by improving efficiency at all levels.
We are dedicated to improving local schools, which are being apallingly underfunded by this Government. We are working to improve local care homes and facilities for young people. We will also take tough action against crime, litter and graffiti.
We vigorously oppose the creation of a Regional Assembly, which would mean that important local planning decisions would be taken out of the hands of local people and decided by a remote bureacuracy. Swindon Conservatives are working all the year round for local people, not just at election time.
