Info | Jack O'Malley was born in Chicago in 1951. He was educated at Loyola University of Chicago, B.S., Magna Cum Laude, and at Cornell University Law School (Charles Evans Hughes Scholar) and the University of Chicago Law School (Edwin F. Mandel Fellow). Judge O'Malley worked as a police officer for the Chicago Police Department while attending college and law school. Judge O'Malley was first elected Cook County State's Attorney in 1990 and again in 1992. He began his legal career as an assistant corporation counsel for the City of Chicago and later was an associate and a partner at the Chicago office of Winston & Strawn. In 1996, he became vice present and general counsel of G.E. Marquette Medical Systems, a subsidiary of the General Electric Company. Judge O'Malley was elected to the Second District Appellate Court in November 2000. Judge O'Malley and his wife, Terri, reside in McHenry County.
