InfoJeff Leal has represented his constituents with diligence and integrity for more than 17 years. He has worked extensively with the county and local governments, as well as the City of Peterborough.

In October 2003, Jeff became MPP for the riding of Peterborough. In October of 2004, he was named Parliamentary Assistant in the Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities.

Jeff has also assumed Parliamentary Assistant positions in the Ministry of Economic Development & Trade and the Ministry of Energy.

In September 2006, to Jeff's credit, and in a vote of confidence by Cabinet, he was named Parliamentary Assistant in the Ministry of the Environment. In this role, he would help the Minister with the implementation of related environmental initiatives.

Jeff was a Peterborough City Councilor for Otonabee Ward, as well as Second Deputy Mayor. He was elected to City Council 17 years ago and has served in numerous capacities. He was Chairperson of the County/City of Peterborough Joint Social Services Committee, Vice-Chair of the County/City Waste Management Steering Committee, Chairperson of the City of Peterborough Library Board and Chairperson of the City of Peterborough's Social Services Committee.

Jeff has also been employed at Coyle Corrugated Containers in Peterborough as the Health and Safety representative.

Jeff was born in Peterborough, where he has lived almost his entire life. He attended Trent University where he graduated in 1978 with an Honours B.A. in Economics and Political Science. Thereafter, he attended the University of Windsor, where he graduated in 1981 with an Honours degree in Business Administration.

Jeff and his wife Karan, a local teacher, have two children, Braden, 8 and Shanae, 6.
