Info | The Shenandoah Valley is Jade’s ancestral home; her lineage can be traced back to enslaved individuals at Buffalo Forge, mere miles from her home of Glasgow, VA, where she served as the town’s first ever Vice-Mayor.
She is a product of Maury River Middle and Rockbridge County High School in Lexington, VA, where she earned an Advanced Studies Diploma. She went on to study political science at Mary Baldwin University in Staunton, VA and earned her bachelor’s degree in the spring of 2020.
Jade is an active member of Glasgow’s Union Baptist Church, where she sang (off key) for several years as a member of the children’s choir.
Jade spent the summers of her adolescence volunteering with Glasgow’s Summer Enrichment Program to ensure that the town’s children had a safe, uplifting, and educational resource while schools had their doors closed for the season.
In college, Jade advocated for a variety of causes. She organized with March for Our Lives to hold a bipartisan town hall meant to find solutions to school shootings, traveled to Richmond to speak with legislators on several topics ranging from tuition assistance grants to LGBTQ+ rights, and participated in voter registration drives. Jade was also the president of her campus LGBTQ+ organization and was concurrently the peer leader of Mary Baldwin’s safe zone housing, an alternative living-learning dorm meant to shelter LGBTQ+ students in times of crisis.
Jade has held a variety of jobs, ranging from library work to customer service, and is now currently a manager at a small, family owned business.
As a member of Glasgow’s town council, Jade championed community in every sense of the word. She advocated for roof and HVAC repair to Glasgow’s James E. Thompson Community Center, supported work to revolutionize Glasgow’s water infrastructure, and spearheaded efforts to keep Glasgow’s tax dollars in Glasgow.
Jade is also a novelist with her first book publishing in March 2023.
