Info | Gerry Martiniuk is currently MPP for Cambridge, and Labour and Seniors Critic for the Official Opposition. He has been re-nominated as the PC Party Candidate for this riding in the coming General Election, October 2007.
Gerry was first elected Member of Provincial Parliament for Cambridge in June 1995. He was re-elected in June 1999 and, again, in October 2003.
Gerry was formerly a municipal councillor, a school trustee of the Waterloo County Board of Education, and alderman for the town of Preston. He also served as Chairman of the Waterloo Regional Police Commission.
Gerry has been involved with many worthwhile local organizations, notably the St. Johns Ambulance, Preston-Hespeler Rotary Club, and the United Way of Cambridge. He was also President of the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce.
While in government, Gerry served as Chairman of the Standing Committee on the Administration of Justice, and was appointed by Premier Mike Harris in 1997 as Parliamentary Assistant to the Attorney General, and Co-Chair of the Ontario Crime Control Commission. He served in those roles from 1997 to 2000.
Gerry works very hard for Cambridge residents, attracting new health services, new schools for our kids and family doctors for area families.
Gerry is a widower with four children: Ivan, Andrew, Kirsten and Seth.
