Info | Tom Hurst, a resident of southern Nevada for more than three decades, is currently a Lecturer in physics at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. He was the Eldorado High School (Las Vegas) valedictorian in 1976, and has degrees in geology and hydrology from UNLV. His work experiences range from being an independent consultant in the natural sciences and a scientist working for numerous government agencies, to managing a world music record label, leading safaris to Africa and hosting programs on Nevada Public Radio. In his spare time he enjoys back-country hiking, vintage travel and exploration books, old western movies, Star Trek and classical music. John Wayne is his favorite actor. Contemporary authors that influence his thinking include nationally syndicated columnist Walter Williams and noted libertarian writer James Bovard.
"I'm running for office so that people might have a chance to experience the prosperous and free state that was Nevada before insincere, politically correct, power- and money-grubbing Republican and Democrat career politicians took over Washington and emasculated the Constitution and Bill of Rights."
