Info | Taze Shepard has been a practicing attorney in Huntsville for 31 years and has taught at the University of Alabama. He and his wife Pam also own a storage business in Huntsville. Taze is a husband and father, and he is pleased but still getting used to the role of proud grandfather!
As a former elected member of the State Board of Education, Taze’s school board district included most of the Fifth Congressional District. He is also the grandson of the late U.S. Senator John Sparkman, who held the congressional seat from 1936 to 1946.
Taze grew up in a military family. His father, a native of Mobile, graduated from the Naval Academy; was awarded the Naval Cross in World War II; also served in Vietnam; and retired as a Rear (2 stars) Admiral in the United States Navy.
Taze is married to the former Pamela Lang. Pam grew up in Decatur and attended Auburn University. She owned and operated a retail store, Pam’s Gift Tree, in Decatur for 26 years. Togther they have raised five children – Riley, Jana, Ty, John and Hunt. The oldest, Riley, is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Taze and Pam have one grandson and are expecting two more grandchildren this year. They still have two in college and one in law school!
Taze served on President Clinton’s Advisory Committee on The Arts. He has also served on several state boards, such as his tenure as Chariman of the Governor’s Commission on School Violence. Taze’s other activities include his memberships in Huntsville Rotary Club, the National Rifle Association and First United Methodist Church.
