Info | Gurbux Saini has well-established and long-standing roots in the Cariboo. He is a former restaurateur, and currently is a commercial property owner, industrial developer and owner/manager of WL Forestry Supplies/Napa Auto Parts.
He shares concerns about economic stability in this region which is assailed by the multiple challenges of the softwood lumber dispute, BSE (mad cow disease), and a world-wide economic situation that has dampened mining development.
Elected six times to Williams Lake City Council, he was part of the team that built the Recreation Centre, Fire Hall, Police Station and City Hall. He served six years as finance chair for the city, balancing the budgets and delivering fiscal surpluses.
As a private citizen, Mr. Saini served his province as a member of the BC Liquor Appeals Board, the BC Commercial Appeals Commission, the BC Travel Advisory Board and the Board of Variances for the City of Williams Lake.
He led the drive to establish a new crematorium in Cariboo South and was instrumental in securing financial assistance from the federal government for a new water and sewer connection in Williams Lake.
A dedicated Canadian, Mr. Saini attended the Montreal Unity Rally to show his support for a strong and united Canada. His resources have been used to strengthen the social fabric of the region, both through his leadership in the community and his many years of service in the Liberal Party of Canada.
