InfoKen MacPhee knows about trust and accountability. At 36, he has a consistent record of serving his community.

Growing up in Sydney, Ken began his political life as a director of the National Board of the PC Youth Association of Canada when he was elected as Nova Scotia PC Youth President in 1992. He also served on the National Policy Advisory Committee, and most recently as President of the Halifax-West PC Association for two terms from 2001-2003.

Ken also knows about working with his Halifax-West community. He has lived in the area for nearly twenty years, and is a former chair of the Beechville-Lakeside Timberlea Elementary School Advisory Committee. He remains active as a volunteer for his local church as well as a fund-raiser for the IWK Children's Hospital.

Ken's belief is that a government must be accountable to its citizens. "A government must take ownership of the decisions they make, and the results that these decisions have on the country. How can a government expect its citizens to be responsible for their own actions when they refuse to accept the responsibility for the decisions they have made?"

Ken has been employed in the steel industry for over 9 years, and is currently employed with Russel Metals. As a supplier to construction and industrial sectors, Ken understands these are two key components of our local economy's success.

Furthermore, Ken knows that while industry fuels our economic growth, this growth must also be balanced with the protection of our natural resources. Ken is an avid outdoorsman and fly-fishing enthusiast who wants present and future generations to enjoy the beautiful environment with which Nova Scotia is blessed, by acting responsibly towards it.

Ken and his wife Cheryl (nee Farquhar) have been married for 10 years, and they have two children, Erin and Ian.
