| Info | A lifelong resident of Schuylkill County who has dedicated his life to our country and public service, Francis V. McAndrew is now running for Schuylkill County Commissioner. He intends to put his lifelong experience in the United States Army, Pennsylvania State Police and as Schuylkill County Sheriff to work for all county residents.
Since first being elected in 1994, he has served as the chief county law enforcement officer, overseeing all executive operations of the Schuylkill County Sheriffís office. During that time, he has increased law enforcement presence at the county courthouse and modernized operations, all despite cutting costs and identifying ways to save taxpayer dollars. Through his work, he was one of only 25 sheriffs in the nation asked to attend the National Sheriffís Institute Executive Development Program.
McAndrew became sheriff after serving with distinction in the Pennsylvania State Police for 25 years, primarily as a Criminal Investigator, dealing with homicides and other serious crimes. His work led to several awards and commendations in solving several high profile homicide investigations. He also played an integral role in special state probes to uncover corruption in Philadelphia and eradicate an illegal organized gambling operation in Harrisburg. McAndrew helped implement the first Central Booking Station in Pennsylvania for the photographing and fingerprinting of criminal defendants for 45 municipal police departments and two state police barracks.
He also serves his community as a member of the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association, Fraternal Order of Police, American Legion, AmVets, BPO Elks, Shenandoah East End Field & Stream, International Association of Homicide Investigation, Pennsylvania Sheriffís Association, Ancient Order of Hibernians, and the Schuylkill County Chiefís of Police Association. He is also a lifelong member of the former West End Fire Company and serves on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania State Police Camp Cadet Program.
He attended Penn State University, Schuylkill Campus majoring in Criminal Justice. McAndrew has been married for 34 years to Margaret R. (Munley) McAndrew.
McAndrew had received the endorsement of Pennsylvania State Troopers Association, Fraternal Order of Police and the United Firearms Owners.
