Info | Mike was born in 1957, has three children and lives in the heart of the city of Brighton with his Brazilian born wife, Adriana.
During the 1990s, Mike was co-owner of the Newhaven firm, Cash Bases, who have offices in France, Germany Spain, South Africa, and USA. Company won the Queen's Award for Exports in 1997, and Sussex Company of the Year 1999, exporting to over 50 countries globally.
Mike currently works for Pop Idol pundit Pete Waterman, as financial advisor for Pete's many companies - which besides the music businesses also includes diesel and stream train servicing. Based in Crewe and Leeds, the company has grown from £2 million last year to a projected £15 million for 2004. Other subsidaries are farms, hotels, clubs, and light fabrication (via a factory in Scotland).
Mike's interests include skiing (a former ski instructor in Aviemore, Scotland), football (a qualified referee, doing the qualification to help out with his son's team, a Brighton and Hove Albion supporter and frequent spectator when they played at the Goldstone, with Chelsea being his premiership team), motor bikes (currently rides a Yamaha Tenere XTZ660) and, of course, music – although not particularly the sort more normally associated with Pete Waterman. Mike is an avid fan of heavy metal, with Iron Maiden and Rush high on his playlist.
Mike is a past member of the 13,000 strong Round Table service club which he describes as 'one of the best organisations in the world'. He was Sussex Area Chairman from 1996-97, and National Executive Director from 1997-98 responsible for forward planning and sponsorship. As Director of the East Sussex Blind Association, Mike was part of the team that helped turned an ailing charity into a solid organisation. During 1995-96, Mike was the Inaugural Chief Finance Officer of the Newhaven Economic Partnership: a government and private £56 million regeneration programme to revitalise this target area.
Mike has lived in Brighton and Sussex for over thirty years and is thrilled to have been selected as Parliamentary Spokesman for the city where he has his roots, where his heart is, and where he calls home.
