Governor of the Central Bank of the Netherlands (De Nederlandsche Bank) since July 1, 2011.
Graduated in 1995 from the University of Groningen with a PhD in Economics. Knot began working as a Senior Economist at De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) in the Department of Monetary and Economic Policy upon graduation. He then joined the International Monetary Fund (1998-99). When Knot became Director of the Dutch Pension and Insurance Authority (2003-04), he wound up briefly back at the DNB when the Authority merged with it.
Knot assumed a position as deputy Treasurer-General and Director of Financial Markets at the Dutch Ministry of Finance (2009-11) until his appointment as DNB Governor by the Dutch Finance Minister, Jan Kees de Jager, in 2011.
