InfoMy campaign is about bringing innovation and new ideas into our state government. These are good times in Minnesota. The economy's fairly strong and stable. This is the time when we need to be trying out new ways of doing things, even to take a few risks, and to find better solutions for future Minnesotans.

I've met a fair number of Republican and Democrat legislators. Individually, they're not bad people. There are a couple I even admire. And yet I'm very disappointed in the party caucuses. They're so caught up, as institutions, in fighting and refighting old battles that progressive and sensible changes are locked out of the process. They've blocked the best ideas of their own people.

It's not a bad legislature. But Minnesota can do better. Independence Party candidates will never be asked to lay aside their principles, their priorities, or their ideas in deference to party leadership. That's a recipe for progressive, innovative state government that can make Minnesota a real leader nationwide.
