Info | State Representative Sean Williams, R-Oakville, was elected to his first term representing the 68th Assembly District in a special election on August 26, 2003. The district includes Watertown, Oakville, and part of Woodbury. He was sworn into office on August 29, 2003.
A lifetime resident of Oakville, Sean was educated in the Watertown Public School system, and attended the University of Connecticut where he studied political science.
Williams' first exposure to politics came at an early age. In the early 1990's he became involved with the State House campaigns of former Representative Brian Flaherty and Woodbury Senator Louis DeLuca. He served as the Watertown coordinator for Governor John Rowland's last two gubernatorial campaigns, and for the Presidential campaigns of Senator Bob Dole and President George W. Bush. He also worked on several municipal elections in Watertown and Oakville. He has been a member of the Watertown Republican Town Committee since 2000.
Throughout his campaign Williams met with residence of Watertown, Oakville and Woodbury to hear their concerns. During his tenure he will focus on easing the heavy burden that the state puts on municipalities via unfunded mandates and binding arbitration. He firmly believes that there should be local control over local issues.
Williams knows that the job of a State Representative is 24 hours a day, seven days a week and that its not just a casual hobby. Williams knows that actions speak louder than words and says that his constituents can count on him to act on the issues that matter most, such as quality education, common sense state spending, and quality and compassionate care for the elderly and disabled.
Sean Williams was born on October 12, 1981. He is the son of Walter and Kathleen (Dooling) Williams, and the oldest of two children.
