Mark has practical and varied working experience. First as a union warehouseman, then as a surgical technician - he has also worked in drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Like many Washingtonians, Mark earned a living commercial fishing the Bering Sea. He currently owns and runs a construction supply business in Suquamish, on the Kitsap Peninsula.

As a union member turned small business owner, Mark understands both sides. He recognizes the need for labor and management to come together in balance. He says, "Greater effort is needed to share knowledge and wisdom as we join The Information Age. Only through mutual respect and understanding can workers, management and investors reach their common goals."

Mark Byron Wilson's father was a Korean War Marine who fought at the Chosin Reservoir, considered the most brutal battle in modern warfare. Mark's eldest son served in the US Navy, and his second son recently returned from active duty in the US Coast Guard in Washington State. Coming from a military family, Wilson believes in a strong defense but is firmly opposed to aggressive pre-emption. He is also an outspoken critic of both the War Powers Act and the USA Patriot Act and will work to repeal these laws.

Mark is married to Glynis Wilson. As a teenager, Glynis helped feed the starving in her native South Africa and worked to put an end to the brutal Apartheid Regime. Mark and Glynis are the proud parents of Torin, their one-year-old son.
