InfoRobin Weirauch was born at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton Ohio, where her father was stationed at the time. She grew up in Henry County, Ohio with her mother (now deceased) and two brothers. Her mother also served in the Air Force before having children, and supported the family working in manufacturing; later changing to a career in nursing.

Starting at age 15, Weirauch began earning a paycheck on summer breaks from school at the union factory where her mother worked as a supervisor. She graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1975 and earned her degree in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University in 1980.

Weirauch began her career as the assistant business manager for the Filling Memorial Home of Mercy, Napoleon, a residential facility for individuals with severe developmental disabilities.

In 1981, she led the founding of the Henry County Humane Society, a non-profit, charitable organization for which she still serves on the board of directors. Under her leadership, the society established the first full-service animal shelter facility in the area.

From 1987 to 1997, she was the Program Coordinator for the Great Lakes Regional Office of the Humane Society of the United States. In that role, she worked closely with numerous local, state, and national nonprofit organizations as well as government and law enforcement agencies in four states.

In the mid-80s, she volunteered as a state-certified emergency medical technician for the Napoleon Fire Department. She has also been a volunteer with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northwest Ohio. In 1994 she was trained and sworn as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate in Henry County, representing the best interests of children involved in the legal system.

In 1998, she earned a Masters in Public Administration, also from BGSU and became the Assistant Director of the Center for Regional Development at Bowling Green State University from 1998 to 2006. The center provides economic and community development research and assistance to communities in 27 counties across northern Ohio.

In 2004 and 2006, Weirauch was the Democratic nominee for Congress in Ohio’s Fifth District.

Weirauch has been married for 30 years to Bruce, a recently-retired 21-year veteran of the Napoleon Police Department. They are members of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wauseon, where they were married. The Weirauchs make their home in rural Napoleon.
