Info | Georges Farrah served as Member of Parliament from 2000 to 2004, representing Bonaventure-Gaspé-Iles-de-la-Madeleine-Pabok.
In January 2002, he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, and was currently a member of the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans. He also served on the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development.
He is a member of the Canada-United Kingdom Inter-Parliamentary Association, the Canada-France Inter-Parliamentary Association and the Canada-Lebanon Inter-Parliamentary Association.
Before entering federal politics, Mr. Farrah was elected to Quebec's National Assembly in 1985 to represent the Iles-de-la-Madeleine and re-elected two more times. He was appointed Quebec Minister with special responsibility for Industry, Commerce, Science and Technology and with responsibility for Tourism in 1994.
Mr. Farrah was the owner of the Auberge du Village from 1979 to 1992, and was a member of the Quebec Hotel Association in 1982-83. He also served as vice-chairman of the board of directors of the Caisse populaire de Lavernière, in the Magdalen Islands, from February 1984 to December 1985.
He received a bachelor's degree in administrative science from the Université de Moncton (New Brunswick) in 1979.
Georges Farrah and his wife Simone Boudreau have three children.
