InfoBorn in England, Ted spent the early part of his life in New Zealand. He and his wife Sue immigrated to Canada in 1979 and have lived in North Vancouver for 20 years. Both became Canadian citizens in 1982.

Ted attended Auckland University School of Engineering to First Professional level and holds a New Zealand Certificate in Electrical Engineering. He was employed by the Xerox Corporation (Rank Xerox (NZ) Ltd.), and his last position before leaving for Canada was Assistant to the Technical Services Manager for New Zealand. His responsibilities included forecasting, budgeting and new procedure's development for Rank Xerox Technical Support.

In Canada, Ted and Sue started their own company in 1980, growing over a ten year period to a staff of ten employees, with products that included telex, fax, photocopiers and specialized telephone systems.

The sale of their company in 1990, in order to concentrate on supplying lease financing services to the home based business market, allowed Ted to become more involved with the Reform Party of Canada. Beginning as a member in 1988, Ted played an active role in the development of the party. He submitted amendments to the Party Constitution that were passed at the Saskatoon, Winnipeg and Vancouver National Assemblies and has served as a Director of the Riding Association in North Vancouver.

Ted was elected as the MP for North Vancouver in 1993 and was re-elected with increased majorities in 1997 and 2000. His main goals are to work for reform of the political system to permit truly free and representative votes in the House of Commons, and to legislate for Canadians the right to citizens' initiatives, referendum and recall. He is a member of the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations.
