Info | CARPENTER, Davis, a Representative from New York; born in Walpole, Cheshire County, N.H., December 25, 1799; studied medicine; was graduated from Middlebury (Vt.) College in 1824; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Brockport, Monroe County, N.Y.; elected as a Whig to the Thirty-third Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Azariah Boody and served from November 8, 1853, to March 3, 1855; unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1854 to the Thirty-fourth Congress; engaged in the practice of medicine in Brockport, N.Y., and died there October 22, 1878; interment in High Street Cemetery.
