| Info | Ted Danz, the proprietor of Family Danz Heating and Air Conditioning, resides on a small farm in Altamont, New York with his fiancé, Diane Rivers, and his mother Lucille. He has five children and eleven grandchildren.
Ted brings his blue collar background and his belief in personal responsibility, hard work and accountability to the race for United States Representative of the 21st District, which includes all of Albany, Montgomery, Schenectady and Schoharie counties and portions of Fulton, Rensselaer and Saratoga counties.
Ted was born on June 27, 1947 in Herkimer, NY. Raised by a single mother, Ted lived in Albany’s South End until he was six years old where he attended grade school at the Lady of Help Christian School. Ted’s family then moved to West Albany and he attended South Colonie schools until his graduation.
While still in high school, Ted worked the second shift at the General Electric plant in Schenectady, NY as a machinist’s apprentice. Upon completing his training, Ted worked overnight on the third shift at the plant while attending high school during the day. Ted, like many of his classmates, joined the military during the Vietnam War. At 18, Ted enlisted in the United States Navy reserves and attended basic training at Great Lakes Naval Station.
In the early 1970’s, Ted began his career in the heating and air conditioning business, a move that would set him on a course towards becoming a leader in the industry. Ted learned the business while working at Sid Harvey’s, which at the time was the largest heating and air conditioning supply house in the country. Ted worked his way up in the business, eventually becoming the youngest store manager in the company’s history.
In 1976, Ted went into business for himself, starting Ted Danz Heating and Air Conditioning with himself as the only employee. Through hard work and dedication, Ted’s business grew over the years and he was eventually joined by his three sons – Ted, Todd and Tim - who are now partners in Family Danz Heating and Air Conditioning. Today, Family Danz, located in downtown Albany, employs more than 50 people and is one of the largest such firms in Upstate New York.
