InfoFor the second year in a row, Gene F. Feyl has been elected by his colleagues to lead the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders as its director. He is a Denville resident who, when he joined the board in January 2007, brought with him a wealth of government experience. He is a former Denville mayor who held that post from 2000 until the end of 2007. Prior to that, he served on the Denville Township Council from 1994 to 1999 and was council president in 1995 and 1996. Feyl's fellow freeholders elected him to the board’s deputy director’s post in 2008.

He is a member of the freeholder budget committee, the facilities review committee and the Morris County Mosquito Commission. Feyl is also Morris County's representative to the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority, where he serves as second vice-chairman of the executive committee. The NJTPA is the federally authorized Metropolitan Planning Organization for six million people in the 13-county northern New Jersey region. Each year, the NJTPA oversees more than $2 billion in transportation improvement projects.

Outside of county government, Feyl is a former first vice president of the New Jersey League of Municipalities, a former president of the Morris County League of Municipalities and a former member of the boards of the New Jersey Conference of Mayors and the Morris County Economic Development Corporation.

Feyl is also a former member and vice president of the Denville Board of Education, and in 2009, he was elected to the Morris Hills Regional School District Hall of Fame. An active member of the American Legion and Kiwanis, Feyl is a consultant to the food manufacturing industry. He and his wife have two grown children.
