Info | Corky Evans grew up in California, and moved to B.C. during the 1960's. Since then, he worked as a logger, longshoreman, first aid attendant, millworker, teen counsellor, surveyor and tree planter. He also organized the first housing co-op in the Kootenays, and co-authored a report on impaired driving that led to the establishment of a drug and alcohol counselling service in Nelson. He was was also a board member for the Bill Miner Society and the Caravan Farm Theatre. Evans was first elected to the legislature in 1991 - - and ran unsuccessfully for the NDP leadership four years ago. He is currently the Minister of Agriculture, and has three grown children.
