Info | Scott Richard Spencer is the proud dad of six children - Rebecca, Tyler, Amanda, Mearyn, Grace and Joshua. Scott and his wife Bridgette live in Wilmington and love working together with citizen groups on issues that serve the needs of the community.
In addition to organizing the Campaign for Sunday Bus Service, Scott was active in stopping the South Wilmington Prison, the return of SEPTA’s commuter rail service to Claymont, Wilmington and Newark, bringing the Amber Alert System to Delaware, opposing eminent domain for private gain and jumpstarting the electric car industry in Delaware.
Scott's belief in people powered politics was forged from a childhood that witnessed the civil rights struggles of the 1960's. As a member of the A. Philip Randolph Institute, he works to support APRI's commitment to improving citizen participation in the political process.
Born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, on August 20, 1960, he spent his first four years watching all the trains passing through town. This led to a lifelong interest in railroads and his career as a consultant for rail transit projects.
A graduate of Salesianum School and Northeastern University, Scott holds a degree in Business Administration and Transportation Management. His national and international career in transit has included developing the start-up plans for SEPTA's Airport Line, the Cairo Metro and the Taiwan High Speed Rail Line.
A life-long Democrat, Scott has been an active volunteer for campaigns and election day voter turnout. He also served as an intern for U.S. Senator Joe Biden on defense and transportation issues.
